Centre social La Pépinière

Description

Created in 1973 by the board of the CAF Béarn et Soule (public administration – Social security in charge of family), the Social Centre La Pépinière is a place of life and social animation for the people who live in the territory of Dufau-Tourasse, in Pau and its agglomeration.
The Social Centre hosts or is partner with more than 50 associations and proposes many activities: language classes, cultural outings, sports, yoga, music, games, etc.

Activity description:

The volunteer will take part in the activities proposed by the different associations of the centre, hosting more than 50 in total. On previous and similar projects, the volunteers participated in gardening workshops (there is a community garden managed by the centre), to hiking events in the valleys and mountains in the Pyrenees or even organized cooking sessions with autistic persons. This list of activities is not exhaustive and can be adapted according to the tastes and interests of the volunteers. Since there are many intercultural associations, there will be opportunities to develop links with the country of origin of the volunteers: for example, the Italians will be able to participate to the activities of the association Italie Pau-Béarn and to contribute to create new links between these two countries..

Logistic conditions:

The volunteer will be hosted, during his/her stay, in a private housing through the Airbnb platform. The association office will be accessible by feet and bus. The kitchen of the flat can be used by the volunteer freely. She/he will have access to the downtown shops and stores. The infrastructures also allow to go to the suburbs supermarkets and malls, easily accessible. The town is also served by an important bus network and a free shuttle allowing to move within the centre of the city.

La Pépinière is looking for dynamic, motivated, curious, open-minded volunteers and ready to intervene among any type of audience.

The cost indicated is including: pre-departure preparation in your country, accommodation in a individual room (all included), insurance, organisation of the hosting placement and local support. Board, International travel costs and local transports are not included and the volunteer is directly responsible for them.
