Description
The Repair Shed is an environmental and social enterprise, run by Community Action Dacorum, based at Hemel Food Garden. It is managed by the Sunnyside Rural Trust and aims to provide a supportive environment in which older men (age 50+) who are practically minded, can meet and create things from discarded wooden items.
The Shed is equipped with donated hand and power tools and other equipment for making, repairing and repurposing discarded wooden pallets and other items. Volunteers can make their own designs to sell at public events and in the shop, or they can take commissions from members of the public to make or repair items. Volunteers can be involved in making a wide variety of products such as wooden planters, trugs, coat hooks and other decorative items.
This particularly suits men over the age of 50, however women are also welcome. It would appeal to anyone who is practical, creative and good with their hands. It would also appeal to people who enjoy meeting others over a shared interest.
