CEMEA del Mezzogiorno is an ONLUS (non profit organisation of social utility) placed in Rome and its action deals with disadvantaged young people, the promotion of non formal education through training, the development of local communities and active citizenships. Our organisation is part of worldwide educational movement of trainers and social workers started in the 50s.In its initiatives CEMEA del Mezzogiorno involves children, teenagers, parents and teachers through play and recreational activities, which are main tools of its work. Our main activities in Italy can be summed up in: training stages for educators, teachers, animators; educative centres for children, teenagers and youngsters; artistic and cultural activities within social programs; holidays and spare time centres; international exchanges; workshops outside compulsory education; ecological and environmental education; exchanges with universities; national and international meetings and seminars; publishing activities (bulletins, books, reviews…).
The volunteer will support the team of “Myo Spazio” to prepare and implement the planned daily activities towards the users. Myo Spazio is a youth center placed in Roma 70 area, in the 8th municipality of Rome
Myo Spazio is opened 5 days per week, a part from all the external activities and events, such as actions in the territory and workshops in the schools. The working team is composed by a coordinator, a psychologist, a social assistant and some educators. Technicians, for specific workshops, university internship and volunteers for national Civil Service are involved in specific projects aimed to enlarge the socio-cultural activities offered.
Volunteer tasks could be the following:
Participate in the different workshops (sport, music, body expression, recycling, dance…)
Participate at the daily tasks in the centre
Assist young users with the use of Information Technology hardware and software, specifically in the area of video editing and web design, and support users to their first approach to the internet world
Contribute to welcome and assist people participating to the italian language school for foreigners
Assist Myo Spazio's working team in the district school activities
Actively participate in the weekly coordination meeting
Contribute with his/her own idea to the centre activities
Volunteer should contribute to drop bits of international culture (mostly from country of origin) in all activities implemented.
